The tiny things offered up by nature are among the most delightful to me. There is something about their smallness that draws me to them; that makes me want to sit and examine closely their often intricate and delicate perfection.
A tiny, pale beach flower.
A tiny forest fungi.
One tiny native bee visiting a blossom.
Are you drawn to small wonders too?
Meg
Definitely, you really have to stop and look carefully. My children have been good at helping me to do that, especially when they were really little and we have carried it on. There has been a fantastic series on the BBC recently called Hidden Kingdoms which is all about tiny creatures and the worlds they inhabit it was a fascinating watch.
ReplyDeleteI would love to watch that series, it sounds wonderful:) I think young children are drawn to little things as they seem to capture their attention. My boy would often find little things to examine, like tiny pebbles, beetles, petals, leaves and so on. He'd hold them out, nestled in the palm of his hand, for me to look too.
DeleteYes, indeed! And as mentioned above my little man has been the catalyst to notice even more of the little things in life. Children just have this natural ability to find the most beautiful, small wonders in this world. I love that he has opened my eyes to notice along with him.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! When a child makes a discovery, and their eyes light up with the joy of that, it can remind us to see the wonder in things, to really look. That's a gift that our children give us, I think.
