A Saturday Stroll

Saturday often begins with a long, slow stroll along neighbourhood paths. I love setting out to explore with the warm sun on my shoulders, bright blue sky overhead and our Sir Steve dog by my side. Occasionally, I take the camera too and photograph some of the beauty we spy along the way...

 Vibrant Golden Penda 'pompom'.

 A jewel-coloured Hibiscus Beetle.

Seedpods decorate the leopard trees.

The scent from these blossoms perfumes the air.

Autumn yellow tree leaves.

Blossoms and blue sky.

Zingy limes overhang a neighbour's fence.

Gorgeous Gordonia or "Fried Egg" plant.

My beautiful walking companion.

Steve dog and I are just about to set out for another walk together. After waking to gentle rain early this morning, the sky is now its Autumn blue and outside beckons. Perhaps you'll have time for your own Saturday stroll sometime today.

Have a lovely weekend.
Meg

  1. One thing I miss about suburbia, was the footpaths. We would take strolls every opportunity we could get. It's great to be able to touch base with the connected gardens - and see what other people had growing/blooming. Very relaxing. Thanks for taking us along, with your afternoon stroll. :)

    1. I live in city suburbia now, Chris, but I grew up in the country in the Far North. I miss the bush and creeks and less well-trodden, beaten back "paths". I feel lucky that the area I live in now is very close to state forest so I can look out and see the gums along the ridge to the west. There are lots of gardens here with many beautiful plants, edibles like the limes too. The lovely man who grows the limes offered me some the other day and I gave him mandarins and perpetual spinach from our garden in exchange. A lovely, neighbourly trade! Meg:)

  2. Samson and I enjoyed our walk this morning too. The earlier the better for me, I just love mornings. The freshness, quiteness and the beginning of a brand new day.
    Your Steve is a cutey.
    Love the hibiscus beetle too.

    1. It sounds like you are a "morning person", Kylie. I like being up early, when it's so quiet and peaceful, everyone else asleep and I have time to potter or walk or read. Bliss! Meg:)

    1. They are lots of these Golden Pendas around where I live, Kathy, planted as street trees. They are so beautiful...and the bees adore them! Meg:)

    1. I just love the way it resembles a fried egg! Might start calling them breakfast flowers! The native bees love them. Meg:)

  5. It's Sunday morning when I've sat down with a steaming hot cup of tea to catch up on some blog reading, and guess what...we did go for a Saturday stroll yesterday! Unfortunately we didn't take the dog, but we meandered along the break wall down at the beach in Ballina, it was a perfect Autumn late afternoon stroll, we saw trawlers and boats crossing the bar, birds dive bombing for fish, dolphins and a wedding! Such adventures that can come from a simple stroll!

    1. What a lovely place for a stroll, Cheryl. I think it's so nice just to wander, with no need to hurry, and to really notice what's in those surroundings. Have a lovely Sunday. Meg:)

    1. Hi, Jan. There were lots of these beetles on some large seedpods, though I don't know what the type of tree is. The beetles are so colourful. Meg:)
