Here & Now 17

Our days here of late have been punctuated by showers and the odd thunderstorm; all bringing beautiful rain. The soil is moist to a decent depth and the water tanks are full, ready for the hot Summer weather that I'm sure will come. For now, I am relishing these milder days, overcast skies and the lush growth and blossoming in the garden after rain.

A little pink puffball on Bees Ruby (Armeria).

 Simple & sweet homemade shortbread.

My favourite grevillea in bloom.

Loving //  All the native flowers that are out in bloom now. Grevilleas are a favourite!

Eating //  Our own crunchy  cucumbers. So fresh!  Homemade shortbread too. So yummy!

Drinking //  Lots & lots of water!

Feeling //  Content after a day working in our garden.

Making //  Simple things like wrap skirts & little  bags with lovely fabrics & vintage linens.

Thinking //  How wonderful this cool & rainy weather is!

Dreaming //  Of  being in Sydney soon with two of my oldest & closest friends.

Sarah, over at Say, Little Hen, hosts this lovely little link-up beginning on the 10th of each month. Whenever I see each of her new Here & Now posts, I find myself wondering how it's been a whole month since the last one. It seems time flies!

I hope the early days of your November has been a happy ones.

Meg

  1. Goodmorning Meg,
That month does fly doesn’t? I have loved seeing your sewing creations, especially the skirt, it turned out so lovely. I am still to get on top of a little quilt I am making, there just isn’t enough time in the day. Have a lovely day.

    1. I can't remember the heat bothering me when I was a kid so perhaps it is an age thing... but then again we were always swimming in a creek somewhere in the Summers back then.

    1. It is really beautiful, Jan. Such a pretty colour. I'll see if I kept the plant tag and let you know the name of it if I have. Meg:)

    2. Hi Jan. This grevillea is called "Dorothy Gordon". It is named after a watercolour artist according to the plant tag.
Here is a link to some information about it:

    1. My husband loves shortbread so I made some for his birthday. The white chocolate drizzle and coconut jazzed it up a bit more. Meg:)

  6. The grevilleas are great bee food Meg, and pretty to look at too. Your shortbread looks delicious with the icing drizzle, which reminds me to start making some for Christmas gifts.

    1. I have quite a few different grevilleas, Sally. The bees and birds have "parties" in them when they are in bloom. I find they are pretty easy to grow too, that's always a bonus! Meg:)

  8. Meg, I packed away our winter woolies when we had that heatwave a few weeks ago. Then I had to get them out again since it has turned cool. I would prefer cool weather over a heatwave any day.

    1. I've been dragging a few warm clothes out too, Chel. Have needed to rug up a bit in the mornings. I really hope we don't get weeks on end of heatwaves like last year, that's no fun at all! Meg:)

  11. Mmmmm...shortbread... Makes me think of Christmas! My mom bakes a zillion different Christmas sweets every year, but always includes her traditional shortbread cookies. Drool.

    1. Homemade shortbread is lovely, Laura. It can be made even more special with a sprinkling of scented sugar or a drizzle of chocolate or cut into special shapes with cutters. I might make some for Xmas too! Meg:)
