Very Slow Days Indeed

Things have come to a grinding halt around here as this Winter's flu has taken hold. For well over a week now, the energy and will to do anything much at all has escaped me. Illness is one of those times in life when the tide is out, when our energies ebb and we wait for that wellness to return. Very slow days indeed!

 The scent of these little flowers perfumes the garden.

Homemade pumpkin soup with a swirl of cream! 

A walk in the garden in the warm sun, a favourite show while tucked up on the lounge under a warm blanket, a spot of knitting now and then, a bowl of nourishing soup when I've felt like eating, reading a few pages and posts while propped up on my pillows, some quiet music and a LOT of sleep.  A gentleness and slowness that is just what's needed!

I hope my post finds you well but, if not, I hope that you are going slowly about your days and being gentle with yourself too.

    My sympathies I've had it, and I know exactly what you are going through!
    It's been the worst year in my living memory as far as the number of people going down with the flu, and in hospital from it. Take care.

  2. hope you feel better soon
    you probably should stay away from the dairy too, as it will hinder & slow the healing, it causes the membranes to thicken which you don't need when you have the flu. the pumpkin soup does look delicious though :))

  4. Touch wood, we have not succumbed to the dreaded flu - actually we rarely get it. I think the last time I had it was 2004. I still haven't had a real head cold this winter...yet!
    I do hope it doesn't hang around too long with you, from what I've heard it is a real doozy, this strain. Keep up with that yummy soup and nice cups of tea and keep warm.

  5. Meg, I got it four weeks ago and am still not back to normal. Take it easy once you start feeling well. I am avoiding crowds if I can as a number as some people have come down with two strains of this dreadful flu we are having in Queensland. I don't want another flu :-(

  11. I recall your son was quite ill, so no surprises you have gone down too. It always happens to me with my kids. Enjoy your pumpkin soup! I love it myself, especially when you roast the pumpkin first. So yummy. And because I cannot have dairy, I use coconut cream instead. Still yummy!

  13. Oh, Meg, hoping you are on the way to recovery. The flu has hit so many people this winter, for weeks at a time, but you seem to be looking after yourself well. Beautiful dishcloth! My old ones are all wearing out, and I feel like knitting new ones should be a project I get started on..
