Several scorching hot days here this Summer have finished with late afternoon storms rolling in over the ridge. We have watched the beautiful sky; the change from that high, clear blue of the earlier day to the ominous dark grey of swelling clouds as they gather.
A brewing storm.
Rain-laden storm clouds above the trees.
A stormy sky above our place.
Rain falling off in the distance.
The colours of a storm cloud.
These stormy skies have inevitably crackled with lightning as thunderous rain has fallen; at times so heavy we've heard its drumming before it's reached our place. Welcome storms that have cooled some late Summer afternoons and left behind a clearer air scented with rain.
How's the weather at your place?
Meg
I love a good Summer thunder storm, I've never been frightened or concerned by such weather, even as a kid. I think there is something magic, powerful and awe inspiring in a storm rolling in.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Cheryl. I love watching the storms roll on in. The change in the air and the light and the sky can be so beautiful. Meg:)
DeleteAlong the south coast of UK, we are having cold sunny days, this morning we had a heavy frost, so everything shines like tiny diamonds. Our fore caste for next week is to be colder, I don't mind cold and dry, hate the cold and wet days. So loads of home made veg soups and hot mugs of drinking chocolate.
ReplyDeleteSoups and hot chocolates sound lovely, Marlene. Lovely warming foods are perfect for your Wintery weather. We have had a day here of very heavy rain which is continuing now on into the night. It's still quite warm though. Meg:)
DeleteI would love to see storm clouds gathering in the sky above my house, it's been a long time since we've had any decent rain.
ReplyDeleteLovely writing and beautiful photos, Meg. It's cold and sunny here. We could use some rain. Glad to hear you got some precipitation.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stephenie. We had very heavy rain yesterday and more falling today. Beautiful rain! Meg:)
