Here & Now 7

Busy days have governed my Here & Now of late but there is always the long, contented sigh of home. Our place here, atop a hill, that looks out over rooftops and trees and toward a very distant horizon where, on a clear day, a sliver of sea sparkles and an island beckons. I have leaned, my elbows resting upon blue railing, and gazed at that view often of late. I've lost myself watching tree tops sway, birds take flight and clouds drift across the blue sky. This looking out has reminded me that there's often a wider view to all that is in front of me.

Pretty pink Springtime blossoms in my garden.

Lovely little Lemon and Ricotta biscuits.

Under the umbels of the delicate Queen Anne's Lace.

Loving //   The build up of thundery, grey clouds before afternoon storms and the scent
of rain that those storms leave in the air.

Eating //    Healthy, energy-boosting salads! My favourite being this delicious and easy
Beetroot and Carrot Salad with Pomegranate Dressing.

Drinking //  Cool, refreshing drinks with many ice cubes tinkling in my glass.

Feeling //  Like Summer has come too early with temperatures in the mid 30Cs.

Making //  Sweet little ricotta and lemon biscuits. Mmm...

Thinking //  There is still much to do before Christmas and I absolutely can't miss the
post before we leave for our holiday in early December!

Dreaming //  Of  island time with my family that is now just three short weeks away...

I hope you will have time to watch the clouds, in the skies above you, drift by sometime soon. Have a lovely weekend.

Meg

  1. Thanks for the reminder to stop and take heed. I have been working very hard in my little neck of the woods, but I'm choosing to, and it won't be forever, does make it hard to just "be" sometimes.

    1. I've been doing some relief teaching work the last two weeks. Busy! That has meant I've had to make a deliberate effort to slow down for a few minutes here and there to watch clouds or take a photo of a flower that I love. I speed up again afterwards to get things done but I always feel a little lighter for the slow moments. Hope you find time for a few slow moments of your own, Cheryl. Meg:)

    2. I thought your blog posts had been a little less frequent (as have mine) some things have to give in the busy seasons of our life, but I always make time to read others posts, it keeps me focussed and motivated.

  2. Your posts are always such a lovely little slice of peace & calm Meg. I find myself slowing down at this time of year and noticing more around me too - I think it might be because it's impossible to rush around on very hot days.

Summer has come a bit early here too, getting almost to 40 this week just gone!

Thank-you so much for joining in again,
    Sarah x

    1. Definitely impossible to rush when it's so hot, Sarah! With temperatures we've been getting this past week, I'm wondering what actual Summer will bring. We are due for some rain today and, if it does come through, it would be lovely.

I love to see the photos of your garden, animals, crafting and baking, Sarah. You seem to be able to capture such clear and beautiful images with your camera. Meg:)

  3. It has been unusually hot and muggy here, Meg. I definitely slow down when it is like this. Thankfully we don't get much humidity here unlike at the beach.

  4. It was a hot and muggy night here, Nanna Chel, and today is forecast to be 35C. These temperatures and humidity sap my energy somewhat too. We had a storm late yesterday afternoon and the rain topped up our tanks to full again so that's good. I'll be concentrating on inside chores today and as I'm up early I'll be baking the school morning tea biscuits and slices soon so as not to warm the house up too much. Meg:)

  5. I'm glad you had some rain at least to fill the tanks and dampen things a bit. Sending cool thoughts your way - I'm wearing woolly slippers and a hoodie fighting against today's wet spring chill and the mere thought of ice cubes gives me shivers. Ha!

    1. Thanks for your cool thoughts! It's been so hot, we need them. Weather for woolly slippers really didn't eventuate here this year, the Winter being quite mild and now we're into the high temps early. Rain has been welcome though. We've had storms and so the garden isn't suffering too badly. Meg:)

  7. I'll be baking (and freezing) quite a few batches of these biscuits to take over to the island. I'm going to experiment with using this biscuit dough to make jam drops too. Yum! Thanks for visiting. Meg:)

    1. Hi, Anja. I don't mind grey days...it's nice sometimes to stay curled up inside with a book or a little craft work and the smells of something delicious baking in the oven. Meg:)

  9. Lemon and Ricotta biscuits sound divine!! I love the thunder storms that relieve the heat on Summer afternoons, I only wish they'd come a little more often ;-)

    1. We love watching thunderstorms roll in over the ridge, to the South-West of us here, Megan. The rain is always welcome after the heat of long Summer days. Meg:)
