It's cold here. Positively chilly in contrast to the days last week that reached as high as 28C. The wind has picked up and brought with it a cold briskness that has us rugging up and snuggling in to stay warm. The gum trees along the ridge are bending to the whistling wind's will and the golden leaves of the plane trees are swirling to the ground and forming their own Autumn blanket. In our garden, the first lettuces and bunches of silverbeet have been picked and tiny little fruits are forming now in the centres of delicate native raspberry blossoms. I hope they will ripen into the little ruby red fruits I remember from childhood; I can imagine popping the first ripe one straight into my mouth and tasting memories!

Clusters of tiny, sweet Allysum flowers.
Loving // The subtle wafts of honey I breathe in when I run my hands over the sweet Allysum.
Eating // Omelettes filled with our homegrown silverbeet.
Drinking // Hot chocolates with swirls of cream.
Feeling // Toasty warm.
Making // Plans for our trip to Melbourne and Sydney coming up soon.
(All other making has ground to a halt!)
Thinking // It's time to bring out the hot water bottles that warm our beds on cold nights.
Dreaming // Of Melbourne adventures. A visit to the amazing Queen Victoria Market is very high
on my to-do list.
In just a few days time, we will be in Melbourne where it is apparently going to be even colder than it is here. Brrr! Might need to pack those hot water bottles. 😉

Meg it is currently 7C here. Such a contrast to the weather we have been having lately. I am heading off to the Farmers Market soon where it will be cold and windy. Enjoy the trip to Melbourne. Don't freeze.

ReplyDeleteThe allysum self seeds here and pops up everywhere, Chris. The bees love it! I bought a few extra warm clothes at the op-shop today just to make sure we stay "snug as bugs" while we are there. We really haven't needed many Winter woolies here for a couple of seasons so I wanted to make sure we'd be warm. Meg:)
DeleteIt's our first cold day here too! Can't complain though, mid May, and this is the first hint of Autumn we've had, and it will be Winter in a couple of weeks!

DeleteWhilst here it's spring, going into summer and it's the best time of year. The start of Autumn is always a warming time to snuggle and drink hot chocolate.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Nil. We fly down to Melbourne tomorrow and are staying right in the city so it's easy to travel around, walking or on the trams. It is going to be very cold so today I will pack all the warmth I can fit into a suitcase! Meg:)

DeleteHasn't it gotten cold all of a sudden! The fire is lit here, and the hot water bottles have been in use, too. Perfect inside weather...not so fun for outside activities :-)

DeleteBrrrr! We've been luck with a mostly warmer than usual autumn, but that's recently turned back to typical cold, wet, and windy weather. I haven't broken out the hot chocolate or hot lemon yet, but I feel it coming on! As for hot water bottles, I find big snuggly dogs very helpful in that department. Hehe. :) Happy travels!

I've come home to ripe raspberries so I am think they ripen about now! There's been enough ripe ones for a little raspberry picnic on the grass...all three of them tasted so good! Meg:)
