Here & Now 11

It is Autumn now for here it is decidedly cooler in the mornings and quite crisp in the evenings. These Autumnal days are just glorious and such a welcome sigh after the heat and humidity of our Summer. Outside beckons often, be it the garden or a bit further afield...

A meandering boardwalk.

A tiny pink star.

Wetland mangrove spikes.

Loving //  The softer light of Autumn, my favourite season.
Eating //  Frittata filled with delicious leftover roasted vegetables.
Drinking //  The first of this year's hot chocolates!
Feeling //  Beautiful soil in my hands (and under my fingernails) as I plant out seedlings.
Making //  A sailor top in black linen.
Thinking //  Of just how lovely and exciting it is to collect freshly laid chicken eggs.
(Our boy helped friends collect their eggs today.)
Dreaming //  While snuggled in under warm blankets.  Zzzzz...

If you would like to share snippets of your unfolding season then you can join in with Sarah over at Say, Little Hen too.   It's a lovely link up!

  1. What a lovely place to take a walk, there must be something new to look at every day. Autumn is such a gentle season I'm not surprised that it's your favourite, it's mine too. I hope you'll share a photo of your sailor top when it's finished. Have a wonderful day. Jan

    1. The wetlands where we went walking are a really interesting place to explore. The boardwalk takes you over the more marshy sections. I will show you my sailor top when it's finished...it's a bit more challenging than anything I've made before so might be a while;) Meg

  2. I like the sound of that sailor top. When you finish, it would be nice to see how it turned out. I drink hot chocolate, no matter the season, because I drink it instead of coffee. But it's especially nice, during the cooler months, to wrap your hands around that hot mug!

Thanks for sharing the link. :)

    1. I don't coffee either, Chris, hence I like mugs of hot chocolate to wrap my hands around in the cooler months. I will share my sailor top when it's finished, I'm just learning to sew and this is a bit challenging than what I've done before. Meg:)

  3. Love the boardwalk path drawing you into the picture and beyond - great composition. No digging here at the moment - it's far to wet and soggy, but blanket napping (hibernating!) I could definitely do!

    1. Blanket napping is just lovely, for snoozing and for settling in with a good book:) I love the grey of this boardwalk and the way that it wends it way lazily through the wetlands we visited. Meg:)

  4. Your posts are always a little slice of calm, Meg. I do enjoy them so much! Isn't this just the best time of year? Everything is so much easier to do once the cool comes. I've got some seedlings to plant out too after a trip to the nursery yesterday.

Have a lovely Easter & thanks so much for joining in again!

    1. Happy planting, Sarah. Whenever I feel the weather change from Summery days to Autumnal ones, my thoughts always turn to what I can plant. Happy Easter to you too, Sarah. Meg:)

  5. Meg it is quite cool here in the mornings and at night but warmish during the day. I had to get the flannelette sheets and the doona out last night as hubby was cold with summer sheets and ONLY three blankets on the bed ... and it is not even winter yet. LOL!

    1. We haven't put our flannelette sheets on yet, Chel, but I expect it won't be long before we do. Your hubby must need LOTS of blankets come the Winter! Meg;)

    1. Me too! Most days I walk our dog and I will often walk by the sea during the school terms. I hope you get time for a lovely long walk over these Easter days. Meg:)

  7. Bring back this cool Autumn spell we had ... today was a roaster! all the eggs were melted when we did our Easter Egg hunt!

    1. Oh, no. Melted eggs...was there any licking of melted chocolate off those wrappers, Lucy?? We did our hunt early in the morning (as our boy could not wait) before the sun got too high and warm. We dyed a couple of blown eggs this year too, little pictures drawn with white crayon that resisted the dye. They turned out beautifully! Did you do some Easter creating at your place? Meg

    1. It was lovely exploring along the boardwalk, Julie. There were lots of different plants growing along the path in sections, like the little pink-star flowering creeper in the photo. Our Easter was lovely, we went to the beach on the Saturday and had Easter lunch here on the Sunday. Hope you had a lovely Easter too. Meg:)

The board walk has a mysterious ambience

It would be peaceful meandering along those boards

    1. On the afternoon we walked there, we were the only ones meandering along. Lovely to walk at a slow pace, stopping to look at plants and animals. Meg:)
